Preserving Digital Transformation Investments

In these times, so many physical interactions have had to be replaced with remote engagement, such as video calls, telehealth appointments, working from home, that digital transformation is fundamental. Preserving the ecosystem is crucial, otherwise some of the investment in digital transformation could be wasted.

Chris Drake, CTO, iconectiv, chatted with Mobile World Live about the impact of robocalls and texts in the world today. With more than 85 billion robocalls a year placed globally, the industry has been rallying to mitigate these calls to ensure that the integrity and dependency on the communications network remains intact.

iconectiv is proud to serve as the policy administrator for the U.S. Calling Number Verification Service, part of the STIR/SHAKEN framework for mitigating robocalls and anti-spoofing, of which we have seen some really good results.  The United States was the first country in the world to deploy the SHAKEN framework to mitigate illegal robocalls.

Drake notes, “A lot of other countries face similar problems with robocalls, and they are starting to examine what options they have to mitigate anti-spoofing and illegal robocalls as well. We are seeing a lot of interest in looking at call authentication, which is the essence of what SHAKEN, and STIR were designed to do.”
